Orchid Inspiration: This months House Beautiful

So this weekend I was paging through my new House Beautiful and saw this beautiful table scape:

House Beautiful: October 2013. Orchids

I absolutely love the orchid center piece. I have always loved orchids but I have only had one once – it did last quiet a while (3 years) but then out of the blue it just died. I have been wanting to try them again in my house and thought this would be a perfect way to try them. So I went out and bought some!

How to: Orchid Table Center Piece

So I looked up a couple how to’s online. Really all I did was take them out of the pot, add new soil into the new bowl I had and then put the new plant in.

Wish me luckĀ  I hope they like their new home.

New Milwaukee Restaurant: Millioke

Milwaukee has been getting a lot of fun restaurants lately. I visited one on Friday night with my friend Mary — Millioke.

The food was great, and the atmosphere was awesome. Four things I love about this space (pardon by iphone pics).

1. The beautiful old arches divided two sides of the space.

2. The cluster lighting they used to make the space modern.

3. The leather chairs and tufted bench at the tables and in the bar.

4. All the mix-matching. If you notice there are several types of chairs used throughout. It made the space eclectic and unexpected.

I really like the cluster lights that they had all over the restaurants. Here are some fun options from West Elm to bring it home:

Outdoor Dinner Party

Happy Tuesday. The weekend got away from me. It was busy but very nice and relaxing. I went up to visit my sister and her husband this weekend, and it took it as one last chance to celebrate summer. So we decided to have an outdoor colorful dinner party. We wanted to string up lights in her trees, but we realized we didn’t have enough so we created a make shift chandelier with the lights we did have, some branches, and a tomato cage from her garden. It created a perfect ambiance for our last summer dinner.

Looks like it could have been one of our last hot weekends, this weekend it is suppose to be only 65 degrees!
