So I was house hunting on Lux Home Tours (and by house hunting I mainly mean drooling) and found this amazing new build “Coach House” smack dab in Lincoln Park Chicago.

OMG. I need to run down to Chicago asap just so I can slowly walk by this mansion in the city and try to climb over that fence, just kidding. But if I brought home made chocolate chip cookies do you think I could get a guided tour??

This room is very masculine, but I still can appreciate the beautiful mixing of materiarls and prints. And that heavy draped window is gorgeous!

I love the added bit of print here in the dinning room – those wingback chairs are perfect for this masculine space!

This sitting room with the fire is heaven. I mean it looks like it just fell out of some boutique hotel and landed in someone’s living room.

I recently found James M Davie Designs on pinterest and I am in heaven! His work is so beautiful. Fun creative, playful, and refined. I love the traditional overtones mixed with the whimsical prints and pattern.

I really like this floor. I was thinking of a patterned floor of our second bathroom….I wonder if Chris and I could pull off tiling this.

Furniture with Wide Stripe

Not sure if I have mentioned it before – but I love love furniture with a wide stripe. It adds so much interest and makes it unique!

I have been dreaming of good stripe furniture because a couple weeks ago I ordered a settee for my dinning table with a stripe down the middle! Can’t wait for it to come!

Decorating with Wood Trim

Dark trim has been on my mind lately…..In Milwaukee all the downtown houses are OLD. I mean really old. My problem with old houses is accepting the dark wood trim which is all over Milwaukee. I know that if we ever bought one of these old houses I probably couldn’t bring myself to paint the 100+ year old wood trim, but it is really hard to find inspiration to keep it dark. With so many people these days only decorating with white trim. Here are a couple ideas I found….do you know of any other resources to look at?1

I think the key is to keep everything else around it really bright and cheery. Otherwise the whole place ends up looking really dark.

What are your thoughts? Do you prefer white trim?
