Snail Mail

My sisters wedding is coming up in July and I am very excited to say that I am her Maid of Honor. I am pretty pumped about  this since I love planning parties and helping do all sorts of wedding preparation. Not to mention I feel like it is helping me learn for when I get married. Anyway we have the shower coming up in April. So I have been brainstorming how I want to do the invitations. I don’t really scrapbook per say but that doesn’t stop me from LOVING scrapbook paper. I have been playing with lots of prints and options this week to see what I might want to use and playing with some very fun old time mail traditions.

Here are some very fun prints. I have a whole box of scrapbook paper that I keep filled all the time. I love to make my own cards for things – I think it really gives a specail touch – not to mention that I get so excited creating the cards.

Last weekend I ordered a envelope liner kit from papersource.com. I got it in the mail this week so over the weekend I was playing with how the templates work. They are pretty easy to use and in one kit you get about 6 different sized envelopes to make the liner for. I made the two envelopes liners above. The first one I used more of a card stock paper – I would recommend using a lighter weight paper. It seems to work better. I glued it in with spray glue. I find spray glue works the best for all my card making endeavors (just don’t forget to lay a towel down so you don’t make a mess spraying). Aren’t they pretty! It really makes the envelope seem a lot more high end than it really is. And when you open your letter it seems like such an surprise!

When you have lots of paper around the house it is so easy to make a quick and easy card to brighten someones day. Who wouldn’t want to get such a thing in the mail. Don’t you love the print-mixing? I do!

Last weekend I also purchased a envelope wax sealer kit. I have always admired the process and felt it made such a great final touch on your envelope. Isn’t it fun? This one you burn like a candle however you can also get sticks that fit in a glue gun. I think the glue gun would work much better if you are doing a large amount at the same time. The burning wax takes a bit of patience. So for her shower invites I will get the glue gun ones.

All you need for it is your wax and the stamp. I got an L but there are lots of other shapes and  sizes you can get.

viola! Wouldn’t you love to get that in the mail? I would! Not many people take time to add those final little touches anymore – I think it adds so much!

Overall it was a fun weekend of prepping for Laura’s invitations. I can’t wait to get them out soon.

Pumped about Pink!

I love pink! I am a happy girl when pink is in my life, which is everyday because much of my condo is decorated in such color. I love the warmth I feel when I get home from a long day at work. Don’t know about you but my week at work was long ending with me being sick all day today in bed. I think some pink inspiration is just the medicine to cheer me up for a great weekend. Happy Friday.

Snow!

It is FINALLY snowing here in Milwaukee! I can’t wait to get home and watch it float down after work.
