Impromptu Pop Up

I love a good pop up party, and a good dinner party in general so I was pumped when my mother in law got me some outdoor chairs for my birthday. Outdoor furniture has been on my mind all summer, but with all our other projects and expenses it was on the back burner. So it was a nice surprise that they went on sale and I got them for my birthday!

Our dinner was very last minute, and we don’t officially have a table yet. So I just used a folding table with a white splatter painted table cloth I used for the Valentines Day Brunch Shown Here.

I just love the green chairs! they come in black too, but I love a pop of color and they look so amazing against the green backdrop.

I still just love these buffalo check napkins. And the best part – they are so cheap. They are from a Wholesale Linen Website. Find them here. I think I eventually need them in every color. And they wash beautifully!

The dogs had fun too!

Do you ever do fancy dinner parties outside? I highly recommend them! they are so fun!

Craigslist Chair Rescue

A while back I found these incredible chairs on craigslist.

new craigslist chairs

I got both chairs for $50 total.

Just a reminder this is what the corner of the living room looked like when we moved it!

I have done some reupholstery in the past, but I wanted these done fast so I sent them to my amazing upholsterer to they could be done quickly! It’s nice to see how far along the living has come over the last year. Slowly but surely!

TNPLH: Living Room 3

I like how the living room is coming along so far. As you can see we pulled up the carpet when I FINALLY found an are rug. It took me a while to find something I liked (that wasn’t $5,000). This rug I found at world market. Isn’t it fun? Check it out here.

I also love these little garden stools (from home goods!). As you can see we still have to refinish the floors and then I will need to paint the trim. I am hoping to have them done when we are gone for vacation for a week this August!

Little Yellow House: Dinning Room Reveal

I have shown some pics of the dinning room with some of the dinner parties I have throw, but I haven’t officially taken nice pics to share!

Little Yellow House: Dinning Room Reveal 2

For the most part I just picked up my dinning set from the condo (seen featured here) and brought everything to the house with a couple updates.

The cane back chairs I just love. Craigslist over 7 years ago. $50 for the set of 6. Not bad in my book. A couple weekends ago I finally got around to re-upholstering the cushion. I hadn’t done anything with the pink that was previously there, and then one Sunday I realized I had extra of this navy and white fabric (Tilton Fenwick for Duralee) on a bolt still and alas, had enough for re-finihsing them. So that was a great quick update and really helped bring the space together.

If you follow me on Instagram you have seen me toiling away sewing these curtains. I followed the Design Sponge Pleated Drape Tutorial found here. The thing with curtains is (this was my first time making them so am far from an expert), in my opinion the hardest thing is the quantity of fabric you are dealing with. I laid mine out on the floor when I did mine (it’s also a fantastic butt workout because of all the squats you end up doing).

I plan on posting on how I made my curtain rod later this week, so check back!.

Just as a reminder here is what the total space looked like. As you can see from above we pulled up all the carpet, which we knew had hardwood floors underneath. We were going to wait till our kitchen was done to protect them, but I couldn’t handle the hideous carpet anymore. You can see above we still need to refinish the hardwood, they are on the orange side. But for now, they look much better.

Little Yellow House: Dinning Room After 3

This picture shows the behind, which again I haven’t shown too much of, but I will be posting on that later. Yes, that china cabinet was from craigslist, as were those upholstered chairs….I reflected the other day that in the first year of being here at the new house I have purchased 6 pieces of furniture all on craigslist and I swear that I didn’t pay more than $1000 for all of them together (and that includes having my guy reupholster the chairs!!). My theory is…..that many of you know…I hunt and hunt on craigslist for everything. 85%ish of my furniture is used. So, that allows me to splurge on things I just can’t get right!

Spring Dinner Party

We had a fun dinner party this weekend so I wanted to share the pics.

Buffalo Check Dinner Party

I loved mixing my buffalo check napkins with the floral table runners that I have used for many tables. I have also been loving simple white and green florals! So happy it’s finally getting a little warmer out!

Lavender Valentine’s Brunch

I am so excited to share my Valentine’s Day Brunch today with you all! So my girlfriends and I decided to co-host for all of our friends. Brunch is so fun and the easiest meal to throw! We all made different dishes to pass and I was in charge of the fun table!

So instead of going with the traditional pink and red, I went with Lavender since it would match so nicely with my living room (and that is where we set up the table for 12!).

Lavender Brunch Party 2

In order to jazz up the table a bit I first made some table runners. I love how they ended up. I sewed them extra wide and long so they would just take over the whole table. And since I went with white table cloths (I couldn’t find Lavender to purchase online at a good price) I decided to splatter paint them in silver which I had so much fun with! Can you see the splatter?

Lavender Brunch Party 1

As you can see our house is still a work in progress. The mantle is looking good, which I shared here. But the hallway needs work and there is still all over carpet, which I hope to pull up soon after I find a good (and big area rug)!

Lavender Brunch Party 3

But over all I love the big windows in the house, they add such nice light (I love them even more now that I am done painting them white).

Anyway back to the table. I used my Vera Wang for Waterford water goblets which I love love! And do you see those little ginger jar vases. My husband found those on the side of the road, someone was throwing them away – husband of the year! And I love the little swan salt and pepper shakers. Aren’t they like little figurines! I love them!

For the rest of the dinner ware I used my wedding china tea cups, my grandmother’s dinner plates, and some vintage gold flatware I found at a local consignment shop ($20 for the whole set!!)

Lavender Brunch Party 6

Again, you can see all the work that needs to be done in the background – but that is life! It will all get done in time!

Lavender Brunch Party 7

I set up my dinning table with a fun Mimosa Bar and Bloody Mary Bar. ps don’t you love that big copper champagne bucket! so fun!

Lavender Brunch Party 8

Lavender Brunch Party 9

This pic shows a sneak peek of how the dinning table is turning out. Ignore that brown door on the right side, that will get demo’ed with our new kitchen layout! But I am loving the curtains. I have been sewing like mad on each of the sections. And as you can see we used a copper pipe at the time. Soon I will share details of how we put together the rod and all the hardware we used. I still have more to sew!

Lavender Dinner Party 10

So anyway we had a great time, and it was a wonderful excuse to get together with all our amazing friends!
