Dragonfly at Hotel Za Za – Uptown Dallas

Last week I was in Dallas for work, very busy and tiring but the good thing about work travel is trying all the best restaurants in the area! My favorite from last week was the Dragonfly at Hotel Za Za. The food was delicious, but what I particularly LOVED was the lighting.

Here is the main dinning area – as posted on their web page.

Don’t you just LOVE the way they layered all those beautiful lights all together to create a very unique chandelier! So – if you can find a great electrician (and a very patient one) to help you install all of them you can create a unique lighting atmosphere yourself. Here are some great options!

Black and White

I love the look of black and white. Much of my place is done is just these colors so I thought I would share some fun eye candy today!

All these pics I just pinned in my new pintrest board. Check out pintrest if you haven’t yet. It is a GREAT place for eye candy and inspiration! Enjoy!

Saturday Night at Mom and Dad’s

On Saturday I went home to my mom and dad’s house which is pretty much in the middle of no where (seriously it is in the middle of a bunch of farm fields). Since my parents had some good friends over it was a great opportunity for Laura and I to make some fun appetizers for a pre-dinner snack.

Mushrooms: A family favorite – not sure where this recipe originated but we LOVE it! It also makes a lot so I usually wrap up extra for easy use the next time.

8 oz cream cheese, 3-4 cloves garlic, 1 TBLS worchester sauce, 1 cup asiago cheese grated, 1 cup brick cheese grated, 1 lb italian sausage cooked and drained, 2-3 boxes of larg mushrooms with the stems out. Mix all ingrediants, stuff mushrooms, bake at 375 for 15-20 mins.

Baked Brie: Wrap creasant roll in a wedge or round of brie. Sprinkle the top with a bit of cinnamon and/or sugar. Bake for about 20 mins at 350. I also made a cranberry sauce to go with it – tastes great with any jam though. To make the crannberry sauce bring cranberries and about 1/2 orange juice to a boil, then turn down and let simmer until crannberies are nice and baked down. Sauce also helps the house smell great!

Brushetta: My sister Laura is great with Brushetta and usually makes from scratch – here is a recipe very similar to hers!

Wrapping Fun

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve needed to wrap a couple presents for birthdays, weddings, and bachelorette parties. I liked how they turned out so much I thought I would share! Hope you enjoy the paper and the ribbon as much as I do!

Take a walk with me!

I moved to Milwaukee, aka Brewcity aka mke, 4 years ago straight from college for a job in corporate America. A native of Wisconsin I didn’t know much about the true downtown of MKE and quiet frankly wasn’t that excited to be here. I urned to move to NYC or Chicago. But soon I realized that Milwaukee is the shit and a perfect place for my life right now. Milwaukee is an old historic city filled with refurbished warehouse buildings that hugs the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan. Over the last 15 years the downtown has gone through a huge resurgence bringing the old abandoned warehouses to a new life of great restaurants, shops, and condos. A year ago I moved into one of these great condos and haven’t looked back. Needless to say I LOVE my neighborhood so lets get aquianted with a wonderful late summer walk.
