Wallpaper Wednesday!

I don’t know about you – but j’adore WALLPAPER. Honestly it gets a bad wrap. If you are picturing walking into you grandma’s house – STOP (although my grandmothers wallpaper was legitimately fabulous)! It’s not like that anymore. Another thing to remember is that is also isn’t made the way it used to be made. It is MUCH more user friendly now and easier to take down. So give it a chance! Every couple of weeks I plan on posting different styles of some of my favorites. Because although wallpaper is overall fabulous it is certainly NOT fabulous to search for. Unless you have a fancy decorator (which I don’t).

Today I will focus on some of my favorite florals from Graham & Brown.

Dragonfly at Hotel Za Za – Uptown Dallas

Last week I was in Dallas for work, very busy and tiring but the good thing about work travel is trying all the best restaurants in the area! My favorite from last week was the Dragonfly at Hotel Za Za. The food was delicious, but what I particularly LOVED was the lighting.

Here is the main dinning area – as posted on their web page.

Don’t you just LOVE the way they layered all those beautiful lights all together to create a very unique chandelier! So – if you can find a great electrician (and a very patient one) to help you install all of them you can create a unique lighting atmosphere yourself. Here are some great options!

Black and White

I love the look of black and white. Much of my place is done is just these colors so I thought I would share some fun eye candy today!

All these pics I just pinned in my new pintrest board. Check out pintrest if you haven’t yet. It is a GREAT place for eye candy and inspiration! Enjoy!

Saturday Night at Mom and Dad’s

On Saturday I went home to my mom and dad’s house which is pretty much in the middle of no where (seriously it is in the middle of a bunch of farm fields). Since my parents had some good friends over it was a great opportunity for Laura and I to make some fun appetizers for a pre-dinner snack.

Mushrooms: A family favorite – not sure where this recipe originated but we LOVE it! It also makes a lot so I usually wrap up extra for easy use the next time.

8 oz cream cheese, 3-4 cloves garlic, 1 TBLS worchester sauce, 1 cup asiago cheese grated, 1 cup brick cheese grated, 1 lb italian sausage cooked and drained, 2-3 boxes of larg mushrooms with the stems out. Mix all ingrediants, stuff mushrooms, bake at 375 for 15-20 mins.

Baked Brie: Wrap creasant roll in a wedge or round of brie. Sprinkle the top with a bit of cinnamon and/or sugar. Bake for about 20 mins at 350. I also made a cranberry sauce to go with it – tastes great with any jam though. To make the crannberry sauce bring cranberries and about 1/2 orange juice to a boil, then turn down and let simmer until crannberies are nice and baked down. Sauce also helps the house smell great!

Brushetta: My sister Laura is great with Brushetta and usually makes from scratch – here is a recipe very similar to hers!
